Alex See CEO Tru-Style

Can you tell us more about True-Style's commitment to sustainability and how it influences your product assortment?

At Tru-Style, our commitment to sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We firmly believe in the future of sustainability and the beauty in the world connecting. For over three decades, we have been dedicated to sourcing from the most sustainable materials and finding new ways to incorporate recycled materials into our product assortment. Our manufacturing process has undergone a significant shift to embrace new technologies that enhance product development, production, and distribution while minimizing our environmental impact.

This mindset shift has allowed us to create amazing high-end products that not only meet the highest standards of excellence but also contribute to a more sustainable future. Tru-Style has been adventurous with materials. We are one of the first jewelry makers who mastered the art of mixed-media jewelry. It’s in our DNA to be material conscious and understand the nature of our work. We have always intentionally picked materials that last longer.

We are in an exciting time where innovative sustainable materials are coming out on a daily basis. We see ourselves playing an important role in making these sustainable inventions the norm of the fashion industry.

How does TruStyle ensure a clean and transparent supply chain for its jewelry and fashion accessories?

Ensuring a clean and transparent supply chain is of utmost importance to us at Tru-Style. We work closely with our suppliers and partners to ensure that they share our commitment to sustainability. We conduct thorough audits and assessments to verify their adherence to ethical practices, environmental regulations, and labor standards. Furthermore, we prioritize sourcing from suppliers who provide transparent information about their materials and processes. By maintaining a close relationship with our supply chain partners and prioritizing transparency, we can confidently provide our clients with jewelry and fashion accessories that are not only visually appealing but also ethically and environmentally responsible.

Besides social responsibility and environmental audits, TruStyle understands that it takes time and consistent conversations to create partnerships and awareness with our supplying partners. The key is to listen for what is important to our partners and create a foreseeable future, realizing the benefits that empower that importance. This mindset of "we are in for the long run" helps us identify clients and supplying partners who are like-minded and reliable, and what we get is loyalty, partnership, and sustainable growth.

How does Tru-Style respond and adapt to industry changes, particularly in challenging times, while maintaining its commitment to sustainability?

As a forward-thinking and globally-minded company, we understand the importance of adapting to industry changes while staying true to our sustainability commitment. In challenging times, we view them as opportunities for innovation and growth. We continuously monitor industry trends, technological advancements, and consumer preferences to stay ahead of the curve. When faced with changes, we embrace new manufacturing techniques and technologies that allow us to enhance our sustainability practices without compromising the quality or design of our products.

Our ability to adapt quickly and creatively enables us to remain at the forefront of the industry while upholding our commitment to sustainability. Being forward-thinking and global-minded comes from our commitment to people and playfulness. We believe in building a company that makes an impact and provides security for all of us for the years to come. The challenges become smaller, and changes become part of it all. Being playful comes hand in hand with being curious and excited about who we are going to meet and what new things are out there, not only in Hong Kong or China but in the world. That is the reason why World Collective is so appealing to us.

What specific sustainable practices does Tru-Style employ in its manufacturing process?

Tru-Style employs several specific sustainable practices in its manufacturing process. One of our key focuses is the use of sustainable materials. We actively seek out suppliers who provide recycled or upcycled materials, minimizing the need for new resource extraction. We also utilize waste materials from other products and materials, creatively finding new ways to repurpose them into our jewelry and fashion accessories.

Additionally, we have made significant investments in developing lab-grown and refined supply chains, allowing us to reduce our reliance on traditional mining and minimize the environmental impact associated with it. These sustainable practices not only contribute to the preservation of our planet but also result in unique and beautiful jewelry pieces. Tru-Style stands for beauty, and we believe that appreciation of beauty is what we all share. We just spice it up with trends and global conversations and stories we all share. We believe that in creating beautiful and sustainable products, we can inspire others to appreciate and value the beauty of our planet and the importance of protecting it.

How does Tru-Style educate and engage consumers about the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry?

We are committed to educating and engaging consumers about the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry. We believe that awareness and understanding are key to driving change. We actively communicate our sustainability practices and initiatives through various channels, including our website, social media platforms, and marketing campaigns. We share information about our sustainable materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain transparency to help consumers make informed choices.

Additionally, we collaborate with like-minded organizations and participate in industry events and forums to raise awareness and promote discussions about sustainability. We also prioritize customer engagement and feedback, actively listening to our customers' concerns and suggestions to improve our sustainability efforts. By fostering a sense of responsibility and empowering consumers to make sustainable choices, we believe we can collectively make a positive impact on the fashion industry.

What are Tru-Style's future goals and initiatives in terms of sustainability?

Tru-Style has ambitious goals and initiatives for the future in terms of sustainability. We aim to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the fashion industry by exploring new materials, technologies, and manufacturing techniques that further enhance our sustainability practices. We want to increase the percentage of recycled and upcycled materials used in our product assortment, reducing our reliance on new resource extraction.

We also strive to become a zero-waste company, implementing strategies to minimize waste throughout our manufacturing process. In addition, we are actively exploring ways to reduce our carbon footprint through more efficient transportation and distribution methods. Furthermore, we are committed to ongoing research and development to find innovative solutions for sustainable fashion. Our ultimate goal is to be a leader in the sustainable fashion industry, inspiring others to embrace sustainability and driving positive change for our planet.

In today's world, consumers are increasingly conscious of the environmental impact of their purchases. How do you communicate the eco-friendly and recycled material options available to your customers, and how do you see this aspect influencing their buying decisions?

We understand that consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious and seek products that align with their values. To communicate the eco-friendly and recycled material options available, we utilize various channels. We incorporate clear and informative labeling on our products, indicating their sustainable attributes and materials used. Additionally, we leverage our online presence to educate and engage with our customers through our website and social media platforms. We share the stories behind our sustainable practices, highlight the benefits of using recycled materials, and showcase the positive impact of choosing eco-friendly options.

We believe that this aspect of sustainability significantly influences consumer buying decisions. As consumers become more aware of the environmental impact of their purchases, they are actively seeking out brands that share their values. By clearly communicating our commitment to sustainability and offering eco-friendly options, we attract consumers who prioritize ethical and environmentally responsible products.

We also take innovative approaches to engage consumers in sustainability. For example, we recently organized a party at work where we created a collection made from recycled aluminum cans. A month later, we had another party to showcase the collection. I now travel the world with the recycled aluminum ring to remind myself and tell the story. These unique experiences create a connection with our customers and allow them to see firsthand the possibilities of using recycled materials.

However, one challenge we face is that the certified recycled metal supply chain is not yet mature. We need more people asking for it. So, if anyone who is reading this wants to create a recycled jewelry line, we should talk!

Tru-Style has played a crucial role in supporting brands to grow into successful international businesses. Could you share a success story or an example of how TruStyle's expertise and partnership have helped a brand achieve its goals while incorporating sustainability into their product assortment?
