J Project: 1968 Is A Year of Revolution

Photographer: Imad Skhairi

1968 is a year of revolution which resonates up to this day.

Protest and rebellions are two phenomenon which were much needed in those days as well as today, because rights and equality still look unreachable. My work shows that, although we have a lot of work to do, if we stand together changes will surely be made.

The looks I recreated through deep research in my mum’s closet during the pandemic, are inspired by the sixties aesthetic and yet they look very contemporary. Like the issue itself.

This project creates fashion using vintage and non-vintage pieces from the stylist home, recycling and upcycling garments to create new looks from existing items so you don’t need to buy new.

Photographed in Italy.
