Parisian menswear label 13 Bonaparte has brought its Haut-Marais spirit to the West Coast with the launch of its first US store in Downtown Los Angeles. Located within the ROW DTLA

retail complex, this store represents the first-ever 13 Bonaparte boutique presence in the US. To mark its official opening, the brand hosted an intimate dinner on September 17th and an in-store reception on September 19th.

On Tuesday, David Sarfati, founder and artistic director of 13 Bonaparte, and Maxwell Anderson, the brand’s US Director, welcomed everyone with a toast of French wines as guests mingled among the brand’s signature seasonless wardrobe and a collection of 20th century design pieces sourced by Sarfati from Antwerp and the Marché Paul Bert Paris flea market. Guests then went to the rooftop and enjoyed a menu thoughtfully prepared by local chef Francis Bassa. The well-attended affair brought together influencers within the arts, fashion, entertainment and media industries such as stylist Kate Brien, photographer Emily Knecht, fashion & style writer/author Monica Corcoran Harel, bloggers Tommy Lei and Stephanie Liu, and daughter of painter Ed Ruscha, Sonny Ruscha.

On Thursday evening, friends, family, media, and the public were welcomed to the store with wine and small French-inspired bites, again prepared by Bassa. This event proved to be a chance for Sarfati to open the door to the 13 Bonaparte universe, as he shared inspirations and cultural references while guests mingled and shopped. The thoughtfully-planned dinner and in-store reception are t signs of what to expect from 13 Bonaparte’s DTLA presence. The brand aims to develop additional event programming within its space and spearhead collaborations with local artists, galleries, and hospitality partners throughout the rest of the year.
