Teva has been making sandals for the journeyman and journeywoman since 1984 in the Grand Canyon by a young raft guide. The guide strapped two Velcro watchbands to an old pair of flip-flops, preventing them from floating off the foot. Innovative sandals as they were at the time, Teva patented its universal strapping system for a modernized opened-toe sporting shoe. The average adventurer has grown to love and wear their sandals, pushing them to the limit.

Today, the environmental sporting shoe brand, Teva, is announcing the  TevaForever Recycling Program in partnership with TerraCycle, a leading international recycling and waste management expert. TevaForever is dedicating its value-driven, circular plan to the life-cycle of the beloved Teva sandals. The recycling program is Teva’s commitment to reducing its environmental impact and a sustainable future.

The TevaForever is the easy way for the Teva wearer to give back in a simple way to dispose of their well-worn sandals. Vice President and General Manager of Teva, Anders Bergstrom, says, “The partnership with TerraCycle is a huge step forward in our ongoing commitment to minimize our brand’s environmental impact. The TevaForever Recycling Program gives our fans an easy way to join the cause, knowing we will give their sandals new life."

Teva allows the owners of “well-loved” sandals to mail the old pairs to a TerraCycle facility at no cost to the customer. Sandals are diverted from landfills, cleaned, broken down, and processed by manufacturers.
