The idea of #capitalism isn't associated with #sustainability…But somehow, we believe that idea is the motivating feature that will shift business models from waste makers to the waste market. Profitability isn't a farfetched business model in fashion. We saw at the height of the 2010s, with fast fashion brands like H&M, Zara, and Topman, fashion focused on more profitable margins. In a sense, they lowered the bar for fashion entry and created an appetite for individualism. At this moment, vintage and reselling would sew their stitch into mainstream fashion. And with that, brands found a business model within that, catering to the modernity of the fashion consumer market. Brands from all over found use in archival fabrics and garments, creating upcycled collections, while many fashion entrepreneurs would open up countless vintage and resale boutiques.
