UNIQLO, the global apparel retailer, has proudly announced the return of its philanthropic initiative, "The Heart of LifeWear," for a second consecutive year. This global campaign aims to donate one million HEATTECH clothing items worldwide to support refugees, children, and disaster victims.

In the United States, the effort will see 50,000 HEATTECH units donated to provide critical warmth. These items will reach individuals and families experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and other pressing needs through four vital partner organizations: Feeding America, NAHA South Dakota, Covenant House, and YC Health + Hospitals. Throughout October and November, UNIQLO volunteers are distributing these HEATTECH bundles directly within communities across New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and South Dakota.

Jean Shein, Global Director of Sustainability at UNIQLO, emphasized the brand's deeper mission, stating, "At UNIQLO, we believe in the power of clothing to make a positive impact on people's lives. Through 'The Heart of LifeWear' initiative, we are committed to supporting communities across the United States by providing warmth and comfort to those who need it most during this holiday season."

The spirit of giving extends to customers as well. Throughout the month of December, shoppers are invited to contribute directly at checkout in all UNIQLO stores, with donations supporting Feeding America's hunger-relief work. Additionally, the public can participate by donating gently used UNIQLO clothing through the brand's RE.UNIQLO program, which repurposes these items to further aid communities.

The initiative's impact is amplified through its strategic U.S. partnerships. With Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief network, HEATTECH items become part of a broader lifeline that provided 5.9 billion meals last year. For Covenant House, which has offered housing and support to youth overcoming homelessness since 1972, the donation meets a basic need with dignity. UNIQLO recently enhanced this partnership by hosting a festive Holiday HEATTECH Gifting Event at Covenant House’s New York City location, creating a joyful winter wonderland complete with personalized shopping and activities for the youth.

The collaboration with the Native American Heritage Association (NAHA) addresses severe challenges on reservations in South Dakota and Wyoming, where daily deliveries of food, clothing, and heating assistance are critical. Meanwhile, the partnership with NYC Health + Hospitals focuses on its Street Health Outreach & Wellness (SHOW) program. SHOW's mobile medical units have engaged in nearly 250,000 interactions with unhoused New Yorkers since 2021, and UNIQLO's HEATTECH donation will provide essential warmth to vulnerable patients accessing healthcare and services.

The RE.UNIQLO program underscores a two-decade commitment to product lifecycle responsibility. This initiative gives pre-worn UNIQLO clothing new life and value, offering customers tangible solutions to appreciate and use clothing longer through reuse and recycling.
