Visiting St Andrews can be a great choice – here’s what to take in on a trip.

1. St Andrews Cathedral

The world-famous St Andrews Cathedral must be on the itinerary of anyone who is visiting this city. The ruins of St Andrews Cathedral are all that remains of what was once the largest and most impressive of Scotland's many churches. The Cathedral itself is complimented by the museum on the premises that has a variety of incredibly interesting exhibits that include medieval sculptures, and the various relics that were found during the archeological excavation of the site.

While visiting the Cathedral make sure to climb to the top of Rule's Tower which was built during the 12th century and others some exceptional views over the town of St Andrews and Fife in general.

2. St Andrews Aquarium

A favorite attraction for young and old this world-class aquarium offers adventure and education in equal measure. The aquarium has a number of exhibits that will inform and delight visitors with information on species found off the coasts of the UK, such as the British Shark, as well as numerous other live exhibits featuring famous international species such as piranhas and seals.

There are even the Meerkats hailing from the dry Savahs of Africa which are always a delight for the younger members of the family. Children will be especially intrigued by species featured in the live, interactive demonstrations that are hosted by museum experts every day.

No cheap thrills or theatrics, the only 'jumper ooters' will be the ghostly inhabitants of the town itself.

6. Enjoy a round of Golf at St Andrews

The famous course is where the game was first invented and played. Playing a round on this hallowed turf is the dream of almost every golfer, and no visit to the town would be complete without teeing off at one of the ten unique courses to enjoy the unmatched ambiance and historical gravitas of St Andrews golf.
