N95 and surgical face masks are scarce nowadays, so why not try to use rave face masks. The CDC and Dr. Anthony Fuci, MD, have even recommend doubling up and wearing two face masks when you go out. In a public statement, Fauci says,

“Double layering is adding extra filtration, but a lot of the benefit also comes in making sure you are covering those gaps around the mask, because not every mask you put on fits equally,”

It is almost impossible to find the N95 and surgical face masks because many people believe that these types will protect them more than cloth or ordinary ones. Sadly, some people hoard the N95 and surgical masks even without knowing their role against the virus.

In this article, you will find out why ordinary face masks like the rave ones can be enough.

It all started because of the rave culture that focuses on expression and freedom. The love for excess parties, dance, and arts caused the emergence of this culture. Their attire consists mostly of colorful jeans and T-shirts for more comfortable movement for dancing.

To add to their attire, they wore pasties, bandanas, and face masks with vivid and bright designs. Wearing this attire enabled them to express who they are. Colorful face masks and bandanas are indispensable accessories for rave culture.

Here are the reasons why masks and bandanas have been a part of their attire:

  • Ravers hide their faces to free them from other people’s judgment as they allow themselves to let loose.

  • Face masks enable them to express who they are.

  • They use it to inhale menthol that can potentiate ecstasy, a recreational drug that can keep them dancing for long hours.

Rave masks vary in color and designs. Others prefer theirs to be bright and colorful, while others want simple and elegant.

Even if you are not a raver but want to be stylish while protecting yourself and others from the virus, you can wear this mask whenever you like.

At first, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend the use of a face mask if you do not have direct contact with the person infected. However, because many health experts recommend the use of it, the CDC changed its guidelines by urging everyone to wear a face mask in public.

According to the health experts, let the health care professionals and those people working on the frontline wear the N95 and surgical masks. People at the community level should wear simple masks.

The truth is that face masks do not guarantee 100 percent protection, whether N95 or simple ones, but it can slow down the spread of the virus by catching droplets.

Therefore, wearing a rave face mask along with frequent handwashing and social distancing already adheres to the preventive measure advised at a community level. Also, rave face masks make you look cool too.
