What Sleeping Positions Will Be Best For You As A Couple

Different Positions Complement Different Couples

Some couples prefer to sleep in the “Hollywood” position; where the man lies on his back and the lady cuddles atop him. Others prefer to spoon. Some throw arms and legs all over the bed and sleep in a different configuration every night. Others can’t get rest when in the same bed, so they sleep in separate beds on a regular basis.

Each of these methods can work; though not for every single couple. One couple will have a preference one way, another won’t. As a couple, you need to figure out which positions help you to rest best, and “lean into” them, as it were. However, sometimes the issue you’re contending with has nothing to do with your sleeping positions.

For example, it could be that one or the other of you has back issues which require chiropractic assistance. If that’s the issue, it will hardly matter what position you both sleep in; one of you will probably get a little uncomfortable. Still, there could be therapeutic options. Sleeping with a pillow between your legs in a “spoon” position helps your back.

Well, if you and your significant other are nestled together, you might just intertwine your legs; that can be comfortable for both of you and good for your back. However, there are times when it doesn’t matter what you do, you’ve got to use other tactics. Here we’ll cover a few.

1. Get A New Mattress, Perhaps

One issue could be the mattress you sleep on every night. Especially if you’ve been together for a while, your mattress could be at the end of its life cycle. Accordingly, you might as well explore new options. Here’s a link that can help you find just the right mattress to buy online. Many options exist, perhaps you’ll want to go with a newer mattress designed just for couples.

2. Exercise Together In The Day, And Eat Right

Another reason you can’t sleep has to do with poor behavior in a physical and mental sense. If you eat too much and don’t expend that energy, it’s going to make you restless at night. If you expend your emotional energies incorrectly, the same can happen. They say guilt and anger keep a person awake. Meanwhile, depression knocks you out.

Now courting depression to get a good night’s sleep is not a good idea, nor is it being recommended. However, if you exercise regularly as a couple in the day, you can keep each other accountable, and you can both find fatigue knocking at the door when nighttime comes. Also, try to eat healthy, organic foods that give your body the tools it needs to stay healthy.

Another good tactic here is avoiding overly acidic foods before bedtime. If you’ve got heartburn issues, try to avoid eating anything four hours prior bedtime. As a rule of thumb, don’t eat after five. Sometimes you can’t sleep well at night because you keep waking up with acid reflux at three in the morning. Again, your sleeping positions don’t matter in this situation.

3. Back To Back Sleeping And Side By Side

Sleeping back to back and nestled together may be preferable to spooning or the “Hollywood” style. Sleeping side by side gives you more freedom of motion for your limbs. Either position could help you out as a couple.

Finding The Best Position For You

Whether you’re sleeping back to back, side by side, in a traditional spoon or Hollywood style, there’s going to be a position that works best for you as a couple. Something else that helps is exercising regularly, eating the right foods at the right time, and perhaps even upgrading your mattress. If you’re having sleeping troubles as a couple, try some of these things out.
