Carhartt WIP and Salomon reunite for their second collaboration, continuing a dialogue rooted in shared principles of functionality, durability, and performance-driven design. Building on the momentum of their first partnership, the two brands return with a reworked take on Salomon’s X-ALP silhouette—an alpine-inspired shoe reimagined through Carhartt WIP’s distinctly utilitarian lens.

Renowned for its contemporary reinterpretation of hardwearing gear, Carhartt WIP brings its material sensibility and cultural fluency to the X-ALP, resulting in a rugged, detail-forward design engineered to withstand demanding environments. The X-ALP Carhartt WIP is constructed with robust grainy leather and suede overlays, offering both protection and texture, while subtle hits of Carhartt WIP’s signature camouflage ground the shoe in the brand’s visual language. The result is a silhouette that feels equally at home navigating technical terrain or urban landscapes.

The collaboration is accompanied by a cinematic campaign directed by Bailey Marklew, which leans into speculative storytelling. Set in a remote outpost disrupted by electromagnetic anomalies and warped gravitational forces, the narrative follows a group of researchers in pursuit of hidden truths. As the environment becomes increasingly unstable, a sinister presence emerges—an unseen creature revealed only through writhing, thread-like tendrils, searching for something it once lost yet still endures. The surreal setting underscores the shoe’s sense of resilience and adaptability, framing it as a tool designed for the unknown.

Priced at $160, the Carhartt WIP x Salomon X-ALP will be available globally starting December 18th via salomon.com and carhartt-wip.com.
